Welcome to The Defense Rests on Bald Head Island! We are from Charlotte, North Carolina with a deep-rooted love for beautiful Bald Head Island. We were married here in 2003, bought the original Defense Rests in 2014 before relocating to the gorgeous high dunes of South Beach in 2020, and have created some of our most treasured memories here. We feel especially grateful to have been able to share our love for BHI with other families by privately renting and managing our home to those looking for a relaxing and cozy getaway on North Carolina’s most unique and beautiful barrier island community.

Our home is part of beautiful Bald Head Island, the southernmost of North Carolina’s cape islands. BHI is located at the confluence of the Cape Fear River and Atlantic Ocean. Leave your cars and worries behind as a pleasant 20-minute passenger ferry ride transports you from the ferry terminal at Deep Point Marina in historic Southport, N.C. to the harbor at Bald Head Island, a distance of two nautical miles.
